Design a Social Robot
I did a research about children’s growth and education, focusing on an important aspect: “children grow in a individual way, and for this, it is NOT possible to know when they are going to develop a certain capability. I thought this would be a great point to start from in designing a social robot.
I analyzed two issues about this project:
the first is about providing a good, homogeneous and unidirectional development of education.
The second one is about making this robot as an AID for parents and not designing something that can replace them.
Ta-ta is a social robot designed for children. It has got 3 services:
monitoring the child 24h, helping the child during his different phases of growth and improving his social capability.
On Ta-ta’s body there are some LED RGB stripes, capable of 6 different colors. Every color is associated with a Ta-ta’s facial expression showed on its monitor: these will indicate to the child Ta-ta’s “feelings”related to the child’s actions. Thanks to these lights Ta- ta offers also a service of Chromotherapy, helping psychologically the child in his daily adventures. Last Ta-ta’s feature is a front camera that records everything during the day, with the opportunity to be reviewed to know how the child spent his day.
